👹 Setsubun and the Story of Eyes 👹

As Setsubun approaches, many people may think of old tales and fairy tales featuring demons.

Oni are often depicted with large, piercing eyes and a wide, bulging gaze.
It has long been believed that "the eyes reflect the heart," and in stories about demons, their strength, fear, and emotions are expressed through their eyes.

In the fairy tale "The Crying Red Demon," the scary-looking red demon is depicted as actually having a very kind heart.
The red ogre's true feelings are conveyed through his eyes and tears rather than through words.
This story teaches us that feelings that cannot be understood by appearance alone are expressed through the eyes.

Setsubun marks the change of seasons.
It is also a time to reconsider the importance of "seeing" and "feeling" while reading the story.
When enjoying bean throwing, please be careful not to get soybeans in your eyes.
Please enjoy the Setsubun events while taking safety into consideration.
