[Dr. Ran] Focal contact lenses

This time, I would like to talk about prescribing contact lenses for "early presbyopia," a condition that more and more people begin to experience around the age of 40, sharing my own experiences.
Bifocal contact lenses have become more popular in recent years, but in fact regular contact lenses can also be used to treat early presbyopia.
There are four main methods: (For those who have been wearing contact lenses that provide good distance vision in both eyes)
① Use contact lenses and glasses together: Continue to use your contact lenses as usual, but wear reading glasses over them only when looking at something close up.
② Set the contact lens power to mid-distance: The power will be weaker than before, so distant vision will decrease, but close vision will become easier.
③ Contact lens prescription using the monovision method: The distance at which the focus is adjusted is changed between the left and right eyes. For example, one eye is fitted with a contact lens with a power for far-field vision and the other eye is fitted with a contact lens with a power for near-field vision.
④Prescription for bifocal contact lenses: There are several types
I have been using contact lenses since I was a teenager and have had no problems for many years, but around the age of 10, I started to realize that it was becoming gradually harder to see things up close.
The symptoms were alleviated by getting a prescription for contact lenses with a slightly weaker power than before (method ②).
However, my presbyopia has gotten worse recently, so I am wondering whether I should further weaken the prescription or try another method.
Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. You may not be satisfied with the results after one try, but we can provide you with a trial version so that you can try them out.
