Are you suffering from epiphora?
When the tear ducts (lacrimal ducts) leading from the eye to the nose become narrow or blocked, tears overflow the surface of the eye.
Tears are mainly secreted from the lacrimal gland in the back of the upper eyelid, and play roles such as moistening the surface of the eye, protecting the eye from infection, and supplying nutrients such as oxygen and vitamins to the surface of the eye. I'm here. After that, it is absorbed from the upper and lower puncta in the inner corner of the eye,Lacrimal punctum → lacrimal canaliculus → lacrimal sac → nasolacrimal duct → nasal cavity (lower nasal passage)and flows to the nose.Normally, a certain amount of this secretion and drainage is repeated to keep the surface of the eye normal, but if the lacrimal duct, which is the passageway for tears, becomes narrow or clogged, you may experience epiphora or watery eyes.

One or more: You may have lacrimation (watery eyes). If left untreated, it may lead to infection, blepharitis, or acute dacryocystitis, so it is recommended to see a doctor.
Method of treatments
At our hospital, we can perform lacrimal tube insertion using a lacrimal duct endoscope.
01
Examination + blood sampling + scheduling

02
手術
*On the day of the procedure, there is a possibility that the area around your eyes may become swollen or may experience internal bleeding.
* Tears will increase temporarily after surgery, but will gradually decrease.

03
Post-operative check-up

04
The tube will be left in place for about 3 months
After that, the tube is drained periodically and the tube is removed when the tear duct is formed.

Surgical flow
01
Anesthetize the eyes and nose

02
Using a lacrimal endoscope, a dedicated lacrimal tube is inserted to open the clogged lacrimal duct.

03
Rebuild the lacrimal duct by placing a lacrimal tube

The process takes approximately 30 minutes (it may take longer depending on the condition).
If the lacrimal duct is severely obstructed, dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) will be required, so we will refer you to a nearby specialized facility.
