Asthenopia common among modern people

What is generally referred to as "tired eyes" is "eye fatigue", and "eye strain" refers to a more severe symptom. The main subjective symptoms of "asthenopia" are tiredness, hyperemia, blurred vision, pain, and loss of vision. In addition to the eyes, stiff shoulders, headaches, body pains, stomachaches, and loss of appetite may occur. As the condition progresses further, symptoms of irritability, anxiety, insomnia, and general fatigue may develop into mild depression, creating a vicious cycle. Most of the conventional treatments for eye strain include eyeglass adjustments and vitamin B12 eye drops, which are by no means satisfactory for people who complain of eye strain. At our clinic, we use the latest diagnostic equipment to find the cause and provide appropriate treatment.

Self-check
XNUMX or more: There is a possibility of eye strain.
When eyestrain becomes severe, it affects not only the eyes but also the whole body, so it is important to deal with it early.
Inspection method
- Visual acuity/refraction test
- If you wear glasses or contact lenses, we will perform an examination to determine whether you are overcorrecting your eyes and whether you are using the correct lenses.Wearing the right glasses or contact lenses can help reduce the symptoms of eye strain.

- adjustment test
- Tests are performed to check the movement of the eye muscles to check whether the eye's regulatory function is working properly. This test can determine the state of eye strain.
- eye position test
- This is a test to check if the position of the eyeball is normal. If there is an abnormality in the position of the eyeballs, the brain will unconsciously try to correct it due to double vision or strabismus, which causes stress and eyestrain.
- Fundus examination
- This is a test to check for abnormalities (disease) in the retina and optic nerve in the back of the eye.By performing this test and intraocular pressure test, it is possible to investigate in detail the damage to the optic nerve. At the Nagoya Eye Clinic, we perform various tests to identify the cause of eye strain.
Accommodative measurement
- Eye accommodation measurement software AA-2
- The degree of accommodation tension is quantitatively measured and analyzed from fluctuations in refractive power measured by an instrument. The refractive power is continuously measured while fixating on the target, and the frequency of occurrence of the calculated accommodative microtremor high frequency component (High Frequency Component: HFC) is evaluated as the degree of ciliary muscle activity. One of the causes of eye strain, "accommodative tension," is displayed quantitatively. You can visually express the degree and type of eye strain.

Accommodative load is gradually applied based on the objective refraction value measured with an autorefractometer, and the degree of accommodative tension is analyzed by measuring the fluctuation of refraction when looking from far away to close up.
In the graph, when the high frequency component of accommodation (High Frequency Component: HFC) is around the appropriate value, it is displayed in green, and when it is above the appropriate value, it is displayed in yellow to red.
-
Overall, there is no HFC (red) and it seems to be normal. -
Even when looking at nearby objects, the graph of accommodation response does not increase and remains constant. In other words, it is difficult to focus anywhere less than 2 meters from the eye. -
HFC is elevated when looking at distance, and HFC is high when looking at near from intermediate distances.Eye strain is often complained of. -
A condition in which there is a large tremor of accommodation (HFC) regardless of viewing distance, and distance-based accommodation is not possible.
