SNU Eye Clinic, at the forefront of refractive surgery in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. SNU Eye Clinic We have welcomed Dr. Eui-Sang Chung, the representative of ), and have entered into a partnership agreement.
A collaborative effort has begun, transcending national borders to pursue the next generation's "joy of seeing."

What ultimately led to this partnership was the "mirror-like career paths" that the two hospital directors have followed, as well as their sincere philosophy towards medicine.

[Training at the world's highest level]
In 2005, our clinic's director, Takashi Kojima, studied the fundamentals of refractive surgery at Harvard University. Just one year later, our other director, Dr. Eui-Sang Chung, also studied the fundamentals of cornea at a Harvard-affiliated research institute (Schepens Eye Research Institute).

After returning to Japan, they each dedicated themselves to nurturing the next generation of researchers as professors at Keio University (Dean Kojima) and Sungkyunkwan University (Dean Dr. Eui-Sang Chung).

Regarding incisions and sutures in ICL surgery

The incision width for ICL surgery is very small, about 3mm, but if you rub your eyes hard in the early postoperative period,
If you receive a severe blow, there is a risk that the wound will reopen.
At our hospital, skilled surgeons in intraocular surgery employ "sufficient tunnel length" and "a curved knife with excellent closure properties,"
We have devised a method to ensure that the incision closes naturally and firmly.
Therefore, for people leading a normal life, we generally believe that sutures are unnecessary.
However, this is not suitable for people who may unconsciously rub their eyes due to conditions such as atopic dermatitis,
For patients who wish to further enhance postoperative safety, we will use absorbable sutures (sutures that dissolve naturally) if necessary.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to consult your doctor. Please note that at our hospital, all procedures deemed necessary for the patient are included in the surgery fee.
We do not charge any additional fees for suturing.

Multifocal intraocular lens surgery performed on 3,400 eyes

Our hospital began performing surgery using multifocal intraocular lenses in 2007, and has now performed surgery on a total of 3,400 eyes.
This figure is the largest number of successful cases in the Tokai region, and is the result of many years of careful work accumulated one example at a time.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to neighboring medical institutions for their trust in our track record and service and for always referring their patients to us.

A diverse lens lineup and thorough counseling
One of the features of our clinic is the wide variety of multifocal intraocular lenses we carry.
Currently, we carry six types of lenses approved in Japan, as well as three unapproved types of lenses that are widely used overseas, from which we select the most suitable lens for each patient.
However, with so many options available, it's not uncommon for people to worry about not knowing which lenses are right for them.
At our hospital, in addition to thorough preoperative examinations using corneal shape and corneal higher-order aberration analysis that we have cultivated through refractive surgery, we also set aside ample time for advance counseling and carefully listen to patients' lifestyles and wishes to help them make a satisfactory choice.
In some cases, we may suggest a monofocal intraocular lens instead of a multifocal intraocular lens. As a result, the number of cases in which the multifocal lens does not fit and has to be replaced with a monofocal lens is only 0.1% at our clinic.
This is an extremely low figure given the national average replacement risk of approximately 1.2%, and we believe it is the result of our careful selection process.
