Nagoya Eye Clinic began its journey in 1998 as a pioneer in laser vision correction surgery, and for the 27 years since then, it has continued to help many patients recover their eyesight with its reliable techniques and careful medical care.
In February 2025, the total number of laser vision correction surgeries performed exceeded 2 eyes. This is the result of our sincere dedication to each and every patient.
The other day, Mr. E, who had undergone laser surgery in 2004, came to our clinic for a checkup.
Even now, 21 years later, her eyesight is still 1.0 (right) and 1.5 (left). She sometimes uses reading glasses, but says she can get by without them most of the time. She is still active as a Shinto priest.

In addition, the next-generation vision correction surgery "SMILE", introduced in 2012, has gained a lot of support due to its small incision and quick recovery, and currently, about 9% of those who want the procedure choose SMILE. SMILE Surgery: Over 1000 million cases worldwide

SMILE surgery is known as "the third generation of vision correction surgery that surpasses LASIK" and is currently the most commonly performed refractive surgery, with over 3 million procedures performed worldwide.
It is particularly suitable for people with mild to moderate myopia, as it reduces the symptoms of halo and glare and there is little return of myopia even after one year, allowing many people to maintain good vision.

Even more than 10 years after surgery, there is almost no return of myopia, and it has been reported that this surgery is effective even in the long term.

In addition, the incidence of serious complications from SMILE surgery at our hospital is extremely low, making it a vision correction surgery that you can undergo with peace of mind even in the long term.

In a survey conducted at our hospital in 2024, the percentage of patients who answered that they "did not feel" halo-glare three months after SMILE surgery was 3% for those with a diopter of less than -6.0D and 66% for those with a diopter of -6.0D or more.
Regardless of the ICL strength, over 3% of patients responded that they still felt halo glare three months after surgery.

And in June 2025, SMILE surgery will finally move to the next stage.
The SMILEpro equipped with the latest model "VISUMAX 800" will be introduced at our hospital for the first time in Japan.
The exposure time has been shortened to just 10 seconds, further improving accuracy and safety, enabling safer and more advanced vision correction than ever before.

Multifocal intraocular lens surgery performed on 3000 eyes

Our hospital began performing surgery using multifocal intraocular lenses in 2007, and has now performed surgery on a total of 3,000 eyes.
This figure is the largest number of successful cases in the Tokai region, and is the result of many years of careful work accumulated one example at a time.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to neighboring medical institutions for their trust in our track record and service and for always referring their patients to us.

A diverse lens lineup and thorough counseling
One of the features of our clinic is the wide variety of multifocal intraocular lenses we carry.
Currently, we carry six types of lenses approved in Japan, as well as three unapproved types of lenses that are widely used overseas, from which we select the most suitable lens for each patient.
However, with so many options available, it's not uncommon for people to worry about not knowing which lenses are right for them.
At our hospital, in addition to thorough preoperative examinations using corneal shape and corneal higher-order aberration analysis that we have cultivated through refractive surgery, we also set aside ample time for advance counseling and carefully listen to patients' lifestyles and wishes to help them make a satisfactory choice.
In some cases, we may suggest a monofocal intraocular lens instead of a multifocal intraocular lens. As a result, the number of cases in which the multifocal lens does not fit and has to be replaced with a monofocal lens is only 0.1% at our clinic.
This is an extremely low figure given the national average replacement risk of approximately 1.2%, and we believe it is the result of our careful selection process.
